Ditching “pageantry for the doomed field work of Robert Falcon Scott” – a British navigator who led his final expedition in 1910, ending in his death on a trek to the South Pole – PUMA and Alexander McQueen have teamed up to craft an inspired collection of footwear suitable for both the uncharted and the untamed. Carrying on McQueen’s penchant for story-driven design and the late designer’s well-acquainted themes of both heroism and nationalism, Fall/Winter 2013′s PUMA Black Label by Alexander McQueen collection “explores the brilliance and emotional ramifications of the expedition.” The shoes come equipped with everything from frosted fabrics, fluorescent colorways, and fossilized textures to thick lug rubber outsoles, tumbled suede, and puffed materials reminiscent of winter outerwear. Expect the full range of exploration-inspired footwear to be available in the latter months of 2013.
