Julien David 2013 Spring/Summer New Releases

Like the designer himself, Julien David‘s collections resist labels. A Parisian by birth, David honed his skills in New York before moving to Tokyo, where he currently designs and produces collections for his eponymous label. And, while the globe-trotting designer may be better known for women’s wear — he designed women’s clothing at both Narciso Rodriguez and Ralph Lauren in New York — David’s street-influenced, luxurious style translates just as seamlessly to his men’s collections. Drawing upon the concept of youth, Julien David’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection features printed shirting and sumptuous sweats, as well as classic items like slim chinos, knits and lightweight outerwear. Dinosaurs, toys and child-like scrawls appear as motifs on shirts, while cheeky embroidered graphics like combs and caps feature on knitwear. Elsewhere, “grown-up” pieces such as woven shirts and pants offer classic, easy-to-wear pieces with subtle twists and updates.
